Intimate partner violence (domestic violence) is both a healthcare and a social epidemic.
Funding continues to be cut even though there are thousands of families turned away from shelters because there are not enough services available. We can no longer see this as “someone else’s problem”. One-third of all homelessness in the U.S. is the direct or indirect result of domestic violence U.S. Department of Health and Human Services-Administration for Children and Families).
At least half of all homelessness is the direct or indirect result of domestic violence. We need the facilities and resources to ensure the safety of these individuals and families and to provide them with the emergency shelter and intermediate support that will empower them.
